Carnegie Webinar: The Process is the Prize- Reflections on Leveraging the Carnegie CE Application with Institutional Leadership

About

The Community Engagement Classification seeks to recognize institutions that demonstrate commitment and excellence in community engagement. As such, it requires a large body of evidence of meaningful and sustained institutional investment of systems and structures that support individuals, groups, and communities to work with each other for mutual benefit and in a context of reciprocal partnership. Institutional commitment and excellence are demonstrated through systems and structures that are deep, pervasive, and integrated. This requires not only high quality standards of practice but institutional leadership support.

In order for the success of any significant initiative on campus, especially community engagement,  leadership matters. However, how can one cultivate leadership buy-in to participate in the Carnegie Community Engagement self-study? How can a campus leverage this process and the data it generates once it is completed?

This webinar considers how we can reimagine the impact of community engagement and how to advocate for this important self study process.

This webinar will explore:

1. How executive leaders shape community engagement on their campuses;

2. How the application can  make community engagement is visible while communicating its importance to institutional leadership, campus and community;

3. Reinforcing the centrality of community engagement to campus identity; and

4. How to leverage the community engagement classification process.
